Social Bites is a newly established company with sales of tasty frozen milk product targeted low-income consumers in Kenya. The business applies a unique distribution model to sell its product which centres on street vendors. The organization is growing and is made up by a team of individuals who aspire to take the business to its next level.

Position summary

Social Bites is recruiting a Sales Officer to join its sales team in Mombasa. The Sales Officer will operate one of the company’s Sales Depots in Mombasa and take part in developing the new brand in the market. In doing so, the Sales Officer will deal with Vendors who the people that are at the core of the company’s business model. The Sales Officer therefore has a significant impact on the sales performance of the Sales Depot. In dealing with Vendors, most of the work is hands-on related but requires a great deal of attention to detail and accuracy. He/she will also be responsible for the implementation of defined processes at the Sales Depot. The sales officer should be sales driven. This requires him/her to be aggressive in continuously recruiting vendors, motivating them as well as sustaining them for the depot to meet its monthly sales targets. The Sales Officer will report to the Sales Manager.

Role responsibilities

A Sales Officer will operate a sales depot by means of following:

  •  Adoption of Company Vision, Culture and Values.
  • Ensure achievement of Sales volumes targets.
  • Actively recruit vendors and conduct home visits.
  • Onboarding of vendors to new selling points while maintaining existing ones.
  • Vendor route mapping to prospect for potential selling points to allocate to vendors, thus increasing sales volumes.
  • Vendor fleet management at the depot.
  • Vendor retention/sustainment.
  • Conduct vendor trainings on relevant vendor topics while easily disseminating information to
    vendors in a manner that they are able to understand.
  • Engage and motivate Vendors on a daily basis to drive sales volumes and address vendor
    issues.
  •  Ensure critical information regarding company products is passed onto the customers through
    vendors as well as the management.
  •  Monitoring competitor’ activities and report promptly all useful information and where action
    is required.
  • Liaise with the Market Controller on vendor controlling operations as well as vendor
    recruitment process.
  •  Proper communication to vendors of any promotional activities / competitions to boost sales
  • Issue the company’s products to Vendors.
  • Daily reconciliation of sales with vendors and reporting of sales through the proper system
  •  Daily banking of sales.
  • Actively conduct morning briefings with the vendors on a weekly basis.
  • Monitor depot stock and make stock orders in good time.
  •  Properly maintain company equipment at the depot, report any break-downs and conduct
    preventive maintenance on the equipment as required.
  • The Sales officer will be expected to adhere to Company Standard Operating Procedures and
    enforce processes such as important hygiene measures at the depot level.

The activities will not be limited to above and may include other activities.

Minimum required qualifications

The company is looking for individuals that comply with following criteria

  •  Between 25 and 35 years of age.
  • Diploma / University graduate.
  • Prior experience from the FMCG sector.
